2013 Resident Blues!

Hi Groovies, and welcome to my final blog of the 2012. And what a year its been!

Music news

As you can probably guess from the title of this blog I have managed to secure a residency for the band for next year! 'Clyde & The bluegrooves' will be resident at the 'Railway Tavern' every other Sunday. This means I have achieved one of my goals for the band, regular gigs, yay!!!!!!!! The Railway Tavern is a great pub in Crouch End with a really appreciative audience and lovely staff! Hope to catch you there soon, especially so my north London people who for some unkown reason rarely venture south of the river!

Since I started the band and website this year, things have gone from strength to strength. Highlights of the year? I guess the dates at the prestigious 'Bull's Head' in Barnes come to mind. Such a pleasure to play to an enthusiastic & knowlegable audience. Also great to play on a big stage with great lights and PA! Many thanks to band manager Julian Haycock for those dates, and also to promoter Pete Feenstra for taking a chance on me, cheers Pete! As you can see from the website we are due to play there again next year February 18th. Can't wait!!!

Going to New York and playing at BB's club at Easter in NYC was also a highlight for me last year and an absolute blast! It was at BB's in NYC that I jammed with my buddy NY city blues star Michael Hill, and where I met the wonderful Amy Madden. If you recall from my last blog both have agreed to contribute to the production of a charity cd for next year.

Charity News

The Other big highlight of the year was my Charity/Birthday bash at 'Oliver's Music Bar' in Greenwich on November 24th. If you recall I decided to donate my share of the band fee to my wife's charity 'The Basil Skyers Myeloma foundation' in celebration of my birthday.

The night was a huge success on every level! I got to jam with with friends old and new, and Sophia (superwife!) provided delicious home cooked food. There were various prize draws, and just over £400 pounds raised on the night. What a night, what  a result!!! A huge THANK YOU! to the boys in the band, Andy on drums, Alberto Keys, and Manu on bass who generously donated his fee to the charity too! Thanks to all my jamming buddies Old and new, and to bar owner 'Oliver' and staff for being such brilliant hosts. Finally, a huge THANKYOU to 'superwife' Sophia for the food and organisation of the evening, and also charity Trustees Neetinda, and Mary for all your hard work on the night.

Here is a video of one of the jams featuring my old buddy Ray wallen on vocals with the boys in the band!

The next big charity bash is this weekend Saturday 8th at 'The Lion' pub in New Basford in Nottingham. If you are in that part of the world on Saturday go along as it promises to be a blast! Among the many prize draws is one for 42 inch flat screen tv, and a state of the art laptop computer. As they say 'it could be you' and why not!!!

Finally...

All that remains is for me to wish all friends happy holidays and all the best for 2013. Hopefully catch you at one of my gigs or at future charity events.

Happy new year!

Clyde
